wtf? honestly...

copied from SB's LJ:

To Whom It May Concern:

We've got an assignment for the 3 summer reading books aside from LMTTM.

Verbatim: "students should list all characters and weite a 5-10 word identification of each. Identification means to list information that distinguishes each character from others in the book."
"In addition, choose ONE of these for each book and prepare an oral report:
The significance of an important scene
The growth experienced by a major character
The development of the theme"

This is from a handout that I got back during school...a 2-page, tan handout. The assignment's on the back, in case people've missed it.

copied from a comment on the matter:

I called the Director of Curriculm's office the other day. They call back and said that from what they knew, we didnt have to read rocket boys. The oddity of the astorized note in the APAC reading "AP does not have to read this," doesnt make sense because AP has its own section in the Summer Reading list and there isnt and AP for Eleventh as far as I know. The confusioning nature of this lead me to read the APAC reading guide linked on the Summer Reading page. It didnt adress my concearns(that letter is also where I got the phone number I called). Murrah also doesnt seem to know, as I called them. I dont think very many people have heard the identification assignment you are posting about. What are your sources?

copied from me and BC's conversation about it:

rouge_rhapsody says: the "assignment"
brittanycpace says: spencer's lj, right?
rouge_rhapsody says: yep
brittanycpace says: i don't really care. how about you?
rouge_rhapsody says: nope
rouge_rhapsody says: we didn't have to read RB?
brittanycpace says: ok...i only read one of the books anyway, so i really don't give a damn.

don't you love MHS? what a mess.
